The Open Benchtable story

The growth of overclocking as a hobby and also a pro level Esport means that more than ever before there is a genuine demand for a benchtable product that truly breaks the mould in terms of portability. Overclockers are not the static, home-based overclockers they once were – today’s overclockers want to meet with other like minded enthusiasts, traveling to OC meetups, social events and contests that are becoming more and more common around the world.

Members of the community realized that current benchtable offerings were designed with no regard for portability. The common classic design was wholly unfit to carry in a suitcase, especially considering the necessity of LN2 pots, blow torches and hairdryers – no to mention actual hardware. Thus the concept of the Open Benchtable was born.

The Open Benchtable project is a community-driven collaboration between HWBOT, Overclocking-TV and Streacom to create a truly exceptional benchtable, one that redefines the product category and towers above current offerings in terms of portability, aesthetics, quality and design.

Today the OBT is the fruit of thousands of hours of research and design time, having been used and tested by a community of overclockers really understand what a portable benchtable should look like.

How it all started

The Open Benchtable Project originates from a group of DIY enthusiasts and overclockers trying to find the best possible benchtable product to use when either travelling to the likes of pc enthusiast gatherings, or looking to optimize space in their test lab.

Conversations between HWBOT and OverClocking-TV team members led to discussions with Streacom at Computex 2015 and within moments the idea of a slim and light aluminum design was in everyone’s mind. The project has since moved forward with significant inputs and advices delivery by key members of the overclocking community.

After countless hours of design, testing, prototyping and feedback, the Open Benchtable is the ultimate portable benchtable.
